Frenchy’s store in Summerside moving next door for more space
Moving can be a lot of work, even if it’s just next door.
But for Samantha Fleischhacker, manager of R& S Frenchy’s, a larger facility in the Harbour Quay building at 255 Heather Moyse Dr. will allow more items to be stored onsite for sorting and provide an easy-to-navigate floor for customers.
“One of the reasons we are moving into the new location is because of the bigger floor space. We will take over the area where the Spotlight Theatre used to be so that space will become our backroom and we will move our off-site warehouse on Port wharf (behind the coast guard building) in there,” she said.
The store is owned by Fleischhacker’s father Ron Silliker.
The clothing sold by the father and daughter duo is mostly second-hand items from New York.
“We also sell K-Cups for coffee, syrups, jewellery, shoes, bags…” listed off Fleischhacker, who hopes to move into the new location in early February.
The store has been in its current location at 259 Heather Moyse Dr. for four years.
“Our storage area right now is way too small to hold everything and we get items in by the truckload,” said Fleischhacker, who acknowledged that summer is the busiest time of year thanks to tourists.
Volunteer Betty Banks is helping to make the transition smooth as silk so customers won’t be left out in the cold over the next month.
“I enjoy getting out and I have a bad knee, so this gives me the exercise to keep going,” said Banks. “Sometimes I see our customers browsing other stores and they say ‘hello’ and that’s always pleasant, but this is a pastime that I really enjoy.”
Fleischhacker said she’s excited about the move, although there’s much work still to be done.
