Rayné J. Plettell-Kenny’s Funeral was held on February 15, 2019. The Funeral was gracefully conducted by Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home, and the Requiem Mass was reverently offered and preached at St. Dunstan’s Basilica by Fr. Rufus Kenny. The mass was concelebra­ted by priests from the Diocese of Charlottet­own: Fr. Martin Carter, Fr. Charlie Cheverie, Fr. Danny Wilson, Fr. Andrew Macdonald, Fr. Timothy Broderick, and Fr. Andrew Handrahan, as well as Fr. Joseph Franco and Fr. Jon Tveit from the Archdioces­e of New York. The Pall was placed on the casket by Rayné’s family Morgan, Rory, Dana and Lorelei Kenny. The pallbearer­s were her sons Rory and Dana, her nephew Dominique Plettell (honoring her brother Don Plettell), and intimate family friends: Liam Carter (honoring Robert Carter), Robbie Saada and Stephen Forrester. The lector of the Old Testament reading was Robbie Saada, the lector of the New Testament reading was Dana Kenny, and the Gospel was proclaimed by Fr. Joseph Franco. The Cantor was Jackie Wiedemer, the organist was Don Fraser, the Gregorian Chant was sang by Fr. Jon Tveit, and other members of the choir included: Pat Wiedemer, Alisa Wiedemer and Emily Roberts. The hymns that were selected included All Creatures of Our God and King; Holy is His Name; Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent; and All Hail Adored Trinity. The Ordinary and Propers of the Mass were chanted in Latin, which included: Requiem aternam; Sanctus; Agnus Dei; and In paradisum. Following communion, two pieces were performed for meditation: Ave Verum by Mozart in three-part polyphony, and Ave Maria by Schubert was soloed by Jackie Wiedemer. Prior to Rayné’s casket recessing from the Church, all nine priests encircled Rayné and chanted the Salve Regina. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were representa­tives of the Veterans Review and Appeal Board, staff and faculty from UPEI, and representa­tion from the Suncor Firebag site. The interment will take place in the Spring, at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Charlottet­own.
