Peacefully with family at her side at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, February 25, 2019, of Margaret Rita “Rete” Gaudet of Parkdale in her 100th year. Rete lived a long, fulfilling and faithful life in which she was a key member and played a very important role in the family circle. Born in Charlottet­own, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Gallant) Gaudet and was the last surviving member of her family, being predecease­d by her siblings: Rose, Tony (Lorena), Irene (Joseph) Gallant, Ada, Mary, Frank, Edmond (Anna), James, Louis, George; and by niece Valerie (Gaudet) Limoges. Rete is survived by sisters-in-law Mary (James) Gaudet, Rita (Louis) Gaudet, nineteen nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and multiple great-great nieces and nephews. She was renowned for doting lovingly on all generation­s of her nieces and nephews. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home until Friday, March 1st, then transferre­d to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottet­own. Visiting will be held on Thursday, February 28th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Members of the St. Pius X CWL will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Hospice PEI, or a charity of choice.
