Fundraiser for wetland education in P.E.I. kicks off today

-

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is kicking off a three-event fundraiser with Scotiabank today in support of P.E.I.’s first Wetland Centre of Excellence education program at a local high school.

Scotiabank employees and volunteers will be building waterfowl nest boxes at the Summerside branch today, the Montague branch on June 19 and the Sherwood branch on June 27.

The public and media are invited to take part in each event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The public can then “adopt” the nest boxes, which will be installed by Wetland Centre of Excellence students next year.

Scotiabank will match the funds raised through this campaign.

Wetland Centres of Excellence are a DUC-sponsored national network of schools and community partners that engage students in wetland conservation through action projects, student-tostudent mentored field trips and outreach in their communities.
