FUNDING NEEDED FOR LENNON HOUSE

-

I have recently toured Lennon Recovery House in Rustico. This new facility is in the works to open shortly. This facility is for people dealing with addictions and mental health issues. The facility, recently renovated extensively, is the result of many fundraisers and donations. It used to be the old Belcourt Lodge, where many ‘AA’ (Alcoholics Anonymous) retreats were held for many years.

When opened, this facility at the present time will house 14 clients, with a goal of 31 over time.

As a former police officer doing much volunteer work with ‘AA,’ I can see a real value to such a project. Presently, funding is required by the end of June for this transformation to happen.

I am hoping all political parties, will support this cause with much needed funding. I was updated as to what the immediate plans are, and for one, I personally fully support this.

Many lives will be saved, many families reunited, many people will become clean and live productive lives.

This is a community issue. Everyone has to be aware of the need for such a facility. I do believe our legislative assembly will be in session shortly. All government parties to date have expressed collaboration, communications in making P.E.I. the best it can be. The areas of addictions and mental health on P.E.I. requires all the help possible. Thank you all. David J. Griffin, Summerside
