Owen Livingston edges William Lowther
All three Islanders successful in Championship Kart Racing Association series
All three Islanders grabbed a spot on the podium in Race 7 of the Championship Kart Racing Association series that took place recently in Scoudouc, N.B.
In the Cadet Division, Owen Livingston, 9, of Cornwall took his first win over second-place Ethan Lowther, 11, of Cavendish by less than two-tenths of a second.
This is Owen’s first feature win of the season. Meanwhile, Ethan has a hold on first place in the series with just three races left this season.
In the Senior Division, William Lowther placed in the middle of the pack in most of the races with his kart being about four-tenths of a second slower than the leaders in the heats. After some mechanical adjustments, William took third place in the feature race for his fourth podium finish in this series.
In the past month, the Lowther brothers have also attended Race 4 of the six-race Coupe de Montréal series, where Ethan took the top spot on the podium finishing with just a two-tenths-of-a-second lead over his friend Lucas Des-Long-champs from Montréal in the tight 14-minute race. Ethan also won the prefinal of the event and posted the fastest lap of the day. The win places Ethan in first place in the Coupe de Montréal series.
William had his best performance of the Coupe series, landing once again in third place in the Senior Division but with better times than in his previous races. Having qualified ninth earlier in the day among the 25 racers, William managed to move up to fourth place in the pre-final before taking third in the final. This finish moved William up to fourth spot from seventh in the series.
The Lowther Racing team will now head to the ASN National Karting Championship at Mosport in Ontario in mid-August racing against the best competitors in the country.
