Ceilidh finale Sept. 30
Chaisson Trio welcomes Tim Chaisson as special guest
The season finale of the Chaisson Trio Ceilidh at the Stanley Bridge Hall WI is Monday, Sept. 30, 7:30 p.m.
Special guest will be Tim Chaisson, a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and recording artist as well as a member of the award-winning touring group The East Pointers. He will join the Chaisson Trio, which is made up of his father, Kevin Chaisson, as well as Rannie MacLellan and Louise Chaisson-MacKinnon.
Kevin, the piano player for the trio, has deep roots in traditional music on Prince Edward Island. The Chaisson family members have helped to keep traditional fiddling alive on P.E.I.
MacLellan, the trio’s fiddle player, is from Margaree, Cape Breton. His signature rhythmic strathspeys and lively reels are a ceilidh highlight. He'll be joined by his partner, Sue MacDonald, who will perform Cape Bretonstyle step-dancing.
Chaisson-MacKinnon, the trio’s vocalist, will invite her, son Dennis Cheverie, to join her on stage for some Celtic songs.
Also featured is awardwinning step dancer Taylor MacBeath.
The theme of the ceilidh finale will be family, says Marsha Weeks, who is the host.
“Music brings people together and there is a special energy that happens when playing music with family members.”
