Session to focus on welcoming refugees

Mary Jo Leddy, author, activist and founder of Romero House will be the keynote speaker at a weekend informatio­n session entitled “Welcoming refugees… do we?”

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 16, 12:30 -4 p.m., at the Murchison Centre, 17 St. Pius X Ave. in Charlottet­own.

“We are delighted that Mary Jo Leddy is able to be with us,” says Bishop Grecco. “She is a highly respected defender of refugee rights and freedoms with much insight and knowledge to share.”

Leddy has been the director of Romero House in Toronto, a refuge for refugees for almost 30 years. She has authored several books highlighti­ng her life experience­s and lessons learned from journeying with refugees. She is a member of the Order of Canada and a recipient of numerous honorary doctorates.

Leddy is a much -acclaimed speaker who is thought-provoking and inspiring. She will be sharing her deep personal experience­s and understand­ing in her talk.

Her key-note address will be followed by a panel discussion and then an opportunit­y to participat­e in a small group discussion. In this way, the afternoon promises to be most informativ­e and engaging.
