Students marking Remembrance Day
BLUEFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
The school’s annual Remembrance Day assembly will be held on Nov. 7.
Parent-teacher interviews are Nov. 7, 5-7:30 p.m., and Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to noon.
The third Home and School meeting of the school year is Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m.
Bluefield hosted its first Career Day on Oct. 3 with over 150 presenters and approximately 200 sessions for students. The school also hosted a post-secondary evening for Grade 12 students to connect with universities and colleges from across the Maritimes.
Eleven Bluefield students attended the 34th annual Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC) in Abbotsford, B.C.
CHARLOTTETOWN RURAL HIGH SCHOOL
The outdoor classroom construction is well underway with posts and concrete flooring in place and carpentry classes working to build the canopy. It should be ready for use in the next couple of weeks.
Today at 10:45 a.m., UPEI will be at the school to do a presentation for Grade 12 students. Carleton University will visit on Nov. 5, 2 p.m. Students must sign up in student services if they plan to attend either or both sessions.
A Rotary Youth Exchange presentation is Nov. 5, 7 p.m., in the lecture theatre. Interested students and guardians are encouraged to attend.
On Nov. 6, Saint Mary’s University will be at the school during lunch. They will be offering on-the-spot admissions (with a current transcript) as well as waiving the fee. Students must request their transcript in student services by today.
The University of New Brunswick will visit on Nov. 7 during lunch to do an information session.
School counsellors invite Grade 12 parents to an information session prior to interviews on Nov. 7, 5:45-6:30 p.m., in the lecture theatre. This presentation will include information on timelines for Grade 12 students, options after high school, applications, scholarships and more. After the session representatives from UPEI and Holland College will be in the lobby to answer specific questions until 8 p.m.
KINKORA REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Report cards go home on Nov. 5.
On Nov. 6, all Grade 9 students will be participating in Take Your Kid to Work Day, spending the day in a workplace setting with a parent or another adult they know. This experience provides students with a unique glimpse into the world of work.
A Remembrance Day Ceremony is Nov. 7. Photo re-take day is also Nov. 7.

There are no classes on Nov. 11 due to Remembrance Day and no classes on Nov. 14-15 because of the annual PEITG convention.
KRHS is participating with the Department of Education in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative. This pilot permits students to bring a personally-owned mobile device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) to school for educational purposes. Students and parents are required to sign a user agreement form that went home with information on Oct. 21. Students who have submitted their forms will be able to access the wireless network today.
This year the ADP students spearheaded the Farm Credit Canada Drive Away Hunger Food Drive with the support of all KRHS students and staff. KRHS has been participating in this food drive for almost 15 years and this year collected almost 700 pounds of food for the South Shore Food Share which serves the communities of Borden-Carleton, Kinkora and Crapaud.
COLONEL GRAY HIGH SCHOOL
Graduation photos are being taken by Heckbert Studios until Nov. 7 in the library. All graduates will need to be photographed to appear on the large wall composite.
Students interested in an international student exchange for the 2020/2021 school year should attend the Rotary information meeting Nov. 5 at Charlottetown Rural lecture theatre, 7 p.m. At least one parent should accompany the student.
Carleton University is is student services today at lunch, UNB visits Nov. 5 and St. Mary’s University on Nov. 7. St. Mary’s will be waiving its normal application fee at this time. Also, after school on Nov. 7, University of Toronto will be in Lab 153.

On Nov. 8, there will be open houses at UPEI (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Holland College (1-4 p.m.). Students attending and applying will have the application fee waived. Required transcripts can be ordered by students, in advance, in student services for pick-up on Nov. 6.
Parents are welcome to the Grade 12 Information and Post-Secondary Night on Nov. 12, 7 p.m., in the lecture theatre. Counsellors will present Plug in – Check In – Begin until 7:30 p.m., then advisors from UPEI and Holland College will provide an overview of each institution until 8 p.m. Parents will then be able to choose to attend three break-out sessions of 15 minutes each.
There are no classes on Nov. 14-15, due to PEITF annual convention.
MONTAGUE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Students are preparing for the Remembrance Day Service on Nov. 6. There will be a service open to the public at 7 p.m.
Parent-teacher Interviews are Nov. 7, 6-8:30 p.m., and Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Report cards will be available for pick up at those times.
There are no classes on Nov. 11 (Remembrance Day).
Student council hosted its annual Haunted Halls last week. In addition, along with the leadership class, it organized a spirit week, which was highlighted with an energetic pep rally and “being connected” expo, in which the students connected with both community and school groups.
MORELL REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
During Halloween Week, the band students did an excellent job presenting their Haunted House Fundraiser, and student council went the extra mile to ensure students were treated to theme days, a fun-filled dance and other spooky activities.
Parents are reminded that parent-teacher Interviews Nov. 7, 6-8:30 p.m., and Nov. 8, throughout the day. Interviews are not pre-scheduled, and parents have an opportunity to speak with various teachers as time allows.
The annual Remembrance Day presentation for students is Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
There is no school on Nov. 11 in observance of Remembrance Day. There is also no school on Nov. 14-15 due to the PEITF annual convention.
