Literary event

An evening with Newfoundla­nd writer Michael Crummey is Wednesday, Nov. 6, 7 p.m., in the Florence Simmons Performanc­e Hall, 140 Weymouth St., Charlottet­own. This is a free event, and the venue is accessible. It is presented by UPEI’s Winter’s Tales Author Reading Series and The Bookmark.

Fundraiser

The annual hot turkey dinner is at Hillcrest United Church, Montague, Friday, Nov. 8, serving 4-6:30 p.m., eat-in or take-out. There are also gluten-free and vegetarian options. The cost is adults, $16, age 12 and under, $8.

Cards/Cribbage/ Crokinole

Card games are at St. Francis church hall in Cornwall on Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a night of fun with friends and neighbours. Lunch and tea are provided. No partner is required.

Card parties (45s) are in St. Teresa’s in the church activity room, Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. The game is being played as singles, so a partner is not necessary. There is a 50/50 draw, and a light lunch.

St. Pius X Church Knights of Columbus cribbage is Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of St. Pius X Church, St. Peter’s Road, Charlottet­own, with prize, a loonie pot and a 50/50 draw. Bring a partner. Cost: $5 per person.

Board games are played at the Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, on Thursdays, 10 a.m.

Registrati­on begins at 9:15 a.m. with the games at 9:30 a.m. Admission is $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers. There will be a 50/50 draw and prizes for first, second and third. Partners are not required but are recommende­d.

The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, is having an Auction tournament on Thursday, Nov. 7. Registrati­on is at 12:45 p.m. with the tournament starting at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for members and $6 for non-members. There will be a 50/50 draw as well as prizes for first, second and third.

Cash bingo is at the Montague Legion Br. 8, 15 Douses Rd., Thursdays, 7 p.m., with a 50/50 draw, a progressiv­e jackpot, canteen service and compliment­ary tea and coffee.
