Big Daddy Weave, a five-man band that originated in Alabama, recently released its eighth studio album from Curb/ Word Entertainment.

The band is well known for such songs as “Redeemed”, “Beautiful Offerings”, “What Life Would Be Like” and “You Found Me. Produced by Big Daddy Weave’s Jeremy Redmon and executive producer Jim Scherer, “When the Light Comes” was released from Curb/Word Entertainment.

This project is full of quality worship music that fans of Big Daddy Weave have come to expect.

Big Daddy Weave originated in 1998 in Mobile, Alabama with band members Mike Weaver (guitar, lead vocals), Jay Weaver (bass, vocals), Jeremy Redmon (guitar, vocals), Jeff Jones (drums) and Joe Shirk (saxophone, keyboards).

They have maintained their membership with the exception of drummer Jones, who left in 2013 and was replaced by Brian Beihl. This most recent project of the group continues the focus that has been evident with every release – worshipping Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

Many people have paid special attention to Big Daddy Weave over the past few years. Jay Weaver (frontman Mike Weaver’s brother) had both legs amputated at the knee as a result of a life-threatening infection. There have also been several losses and health crises in band members’ families that have only caused the group to cling to God.

Many fans may have heard the story of how Zach Williams (“Chainbreaker”) was touched by the song, “Redeemed.” When Williams later toured with Big Daddy Weave, he shared his song, “Alive.” The band appreciated the message of the song so much they decided to record it immediately. Mike Weaver spoke about the decision.

"As the Lord used 'Redeemed' to touch Zach's life, he is now using a song that Zach wrote that so deeply speaks to where we are. This song came in its perfect timing, with us coming out of a hard life season and into a season of light. We cannot wait for everyone to hear a song that means so much to us as a band." he song has a powerful message: “I am far from being perfect/ There are days that I regret/ On this battlefield I struggle/ With the lies that I have lived/ I have fallen short of glory/I can't make it on my own...But God, rich in mercy/ You came to save me/ Now I'm alive.”

“I Know” also seems like a song birthed out of trial, with its message of knowing God loves us even when we feel sad or alone. “This is What We Live For” is an energetic tune that reminds us to be light in the darkness, to chase after God and live to serve and lead others to Him.

“What I’ve Got” is a slightly reggae-sounding tune that reminds listeners of the faithfulness of God. “The Name of Jesus” is a beautiful song of worship, while Pursuit is a song of yearning for a closer relationship with the Saviour.

Big Daddy Weave’s “When the Light Comes” is a project fans will thoroughly enjoy.
