MacLeod scores winner as Wild defeats Caps
Kiefer Lyons scored twice Saturday to pace the Saint John Vito’s to a 4-2 victory over the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights.
Jonah Arbing made 25 saves as the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild defeated the Fredericton Caps 2-1 Saturday in the other New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League contest.

VITO'S 4, KNIGHTS 2
Marcus Grady scored the winner 8:30 into the third period for the visting Vito's at MacLauchlan Arena. Keegan Gilbert rounded out the scoring with two minutes to play while
Riley Rooney had a pair of helpers in the victory.
Jesse Blanchard and Simon Hughes scored for the Knights with assists going to Colby MacDonald, Colby Huggan and captain Max Chisholm.
Jeremi Delaquis stopped 36 shots for the win while Aiden Williams made 27 saves in the loss.
The Vito’s, who held 1-0 and 2-1 period leads, went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Knights were 0-for-1.
Saint John improved to 9-13-0 and sits six points up on Charlottetown (5-14-2) for fifth place in the six-team circuit. The Knights, who have lost nine straight games, return to the ice
Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against the rival Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild in Kensington.
WILD 2, CAPS 1
Jacob Long opened the scoring for Fredericton at 18:34 of the first period.
Sam MacNeill’s power-play goal 1:42 into the second period tied the game and Seth MacLeod’s shot from the right point, which made its way through traffic into the net with one second remaining in the second period, proved to be the gamewinning tally.
Donovan Arsenault, Dixon MacLeod and Reid Vos drew assists for Kensington
Arbing improved to 8-2-1 while lowering his goals-against average to 3.06 and improving his save percentage to .910. The 17-year-old North Milton native was quick to deflect praise to his teammates.
“They played really well,” he said. “There were lots of shots from the outside and when there are not too many shots from the inside it makes it easy for me.”
The victory moved the Wild (12-5-2), who has played four fewer games, two points ahead of the Caps (12-11-0) in the race for second place in the six-team league. It was the first time Kensington has defeated Fredericton this season in three attempts.
