The P.E.I. Book Awards celebrate the best in books by Islanders. Awards are given every two years in four categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry and children’s literature (new for 2020). Confederation Centre of the Arts has extended its deadline for video submissions to audition for the TD Young Company. The new deadline is Jan. 19. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. The Queens County Music Festival will take place from April 27-May 8 in Charlottetown. The festival welcomes the following adjudicators: Rebekah Maxner for pre-junior and junior piano; Maureen Batt, vocal and choral, Glen Montgomery for intermediate, senior and advanced piano; Elizabeth Upson

LITERARY EVENTS/LECTURES/ PRESENTATIONS
Head to Summerside Rotary Library on Jan. 25, 2 p.m., for discussions on some of today’s most thought-provoking books. Pick up a copy of the latest book club selection at the main desk. Also held at Summerside Rotary Library. Atlantic Canadian author Laura Churchill Duke is at the Confederation Library, Charlottetown, Jan. 25, 2-3 p.m., as she shares from her new novel, Two Crows Sorrow, about a true murder that happened in Nova Scotia in 1904. The eighth annual Clyde River Lecture Series will begin on Jan. 25, focusing on genealogy, news media and aging. The series is held at the Riverview Community Centre, 718 Clyde River Rd. All presentations are 1:30-3:30 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments and a social time. The museum will be open to view the community’s collection of over 200 artifacts and heritage photos. LESSONS
The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre UPEI will be having a Crafty Saturday on Jan. 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring along a project to work on and join the group for some motivation and/or guidance.
