Downtown Summerside Inc. announces new interim executive director

-

Angie Arsenault has been named the interim executive director of Downtown Summerside Inc.

The former youth program director at Generation XX, who brings nine years of experience in the non-profit sector to the job, will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan, as well as general day-to-day operations of the organization.

She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Summerside where she chairs the International Youth Exchange committee and sits on several other committees. Arsenault looks forward to continuing to build relationships (if virtually) with the goal of furthering the mission and vision of Downtown Summerside Inc.

“Building community requires collaboration, partnerships, communication and, ultimately, a common goal,” said Arsenault in a news release.

In these unprecedented times, Downtown Summerside Inc. (DSI) respects the limitations of operation as defined by both the province and the chief health officer.

Many of its members have worked hard to modify their goods and services in order to continue serving the public in a safe and caring way.

Ken Driscoll, DSI president, said it’s important to support the local economy, especially during these times.

“Many restaurants in the Downtown remain open in a take-out capacity, while service and retail businesses have increased social distancing measures to continue serving the public.”

The DSI board of directors continues to meet virtually.

Arsenault will be reaching out to the DSI membership to find out how she can support the members through this challenging time.

Lydia Potter is the former executive director of DSI.
