LIVING A NIGHTMARE

I live in one of the most beautiful areas on Prince Edward Island, Millvale. We are surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful forests and rivers. I bought this land three years ago because I wanted peace and quiet and be surrounded by nature. Yet in these beautiful settings we are living a nightmare. Two things are contributing to this nightmare, one is the RCMP and the other is the gun range.

Every spring and every fall, we are subjected to three weeks of constant gunfire from the gun range by the RCMP. Many, many of us have complained about this and nothing has been done. Why? Because in order to complain we are given a certain number which is the RCMP in Queens County. They have done nothing but berate is, ridicule us and been very dismissive about our complaints.

I have taken this up with my MLA Brad Trivers. The last comment I got from his assistant was that there was nothing they could do but they would pass it on to other people. We all know what that means, nothing will get done. It is unconscionable that a small community like ours has to put up with constant gunfire for three weeks every spring and every fall. When the RCMP shoot, they all shoot together and the noise is extremely loud. It just goes through your body and for someone with PTSD that is not good. I do not mind the local people going there once in a while to practise shooting, but the RCMP are just too loud for a small community to put up with. It is time to do something about this once and for all.
