Sheryl Elaine Hopkins of Mount Herbert, PEI and formerly of Smithsvill­e, She lburne County, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, November 13, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Bertha (Hopkins) Thomas and the late Frederick Hopkins of Smithsvill­e. Survived by siblings Winnifred Hopkins, Laura Perry (the late Nelson), Robert (Jean), and Linda Murchison (Wendell). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws, and great-grand nieces and nephews. Predecease­d by her sister Margaret Nickerson (the late Rogers) and brother Bruce Hopkins. She was welcomed warmly and developed a sincere fondness for her second family in PEI. She had a loving, kind heart, loving people from all walks of life. She had many dear friends, and none were forgotten throughout her life. She loved cooking, country music, and spending time with family and friends. One of her fondest memories was her to visit to her Uncle Ronald Sears’ gravesite, at Adegem Canadian War Cemetery, Belgium. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciati­on to the attending doctors and nurses at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their exceptiona­l care and kindness. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Woodside Cemetery in Port La Tour, Nova Scotia. Sheryl was a proud supporter of the annual CBC Feed a Family Turkey Drive campaign therefore memorials to the Upper Room Hospitalit­y Ministry (33 Belmont St., Charlottet­own, PE C1A 5G9) or Wesley United Church Baccaro (c/o Joan Smith, Box 87, Port La Tour, NS B0W 1E0) would be appreciate­d.
