Mission PAWSible raises funds for P.E.I.

-

Bark for Life P.E.I. recently announced the winners of Mission PAWSible.

Sean Ledgerwood took home the $1,000 shopping spree at Global Pet Foods P.E.I., Mirella Micalef received the $500 in merchandise at Canadian Tire Charlottetown and Caitlin Matters took home the gift basket valued at $250.

In late October, Bark for Life P.E.I., in collaboration with Room Escape Cavendish, developed and held the first Mission PAWSible. Resembling the concept behind The Amazing Race, the event took individuals and teams on a fun-filled adventure to solve a series of puzzles in downtown Charlottetown. Participants of collectively raised over $13 000.

As an incentive for participants to raise more money, the committee put together a prize draw.

“The more money participants raised, the more (ballots they received for a chance) to win,” said Debbie Miller, Bark for Life P.E.I. co-chairwoman.

Participants could raise funds until Nov. 30. A total of 419 ballots went into the draw bucket, and the draw was made on Dec. 3, via Facebook LIVE by Bark for Life P.E.I. co-chairwoman Debbie Miller and Top Dog presenting sponsor Josh Blinder from Global Pet Foods P.E.I.

Both the timing and outcome couldn’t have been more perfect for Ledgerwood and his family.

“My wife, Michelle, underwent breast cancer treatments over the summer and was due for surgery a few days after the shopping spree took place. We were thrilled that we were able to include both our daughters and our dog, Jasper, in this shopping spree at Global Pet Foods Charlottetown. We had the whole store and two very helpful staff members to ourselves, and they really helped make it a special event for our family.”

Blinder says his store was happy to go the extra mile for the Ledgerwood family.

While looking through the store a few days before the shopping spree, Michelle happened to mention that they feed their dog Natural Balance dog food.

“That afternoon, I reached out to our rep at Natural Balance, told her Michelle’s story and without hesitation they came on board and added an additional $500 worth of Natural Balance products to their $1,000-shopping spree,” he said.

“When Sean and his family came to claim their prize, we were thrilled to surprise them with this added bonus.”
