Warriors, Express earn lopsided wins

Campbell, Power have six-point nights as Express cruises past Matrix

The Prince County Warriors scored early and often en route to an 11-2 win over the Central Attack Saturday at MacLauchla­n Arena.

The Eastern Express used a big second period to cruise past the Mid-Isle Matrix 11-0 in the other P.E.I. Major Under-15 AAA Hockey League game.

WARRIORS 11, ATTACK 2

Colby Hudson scored five minutes into the game and Lincoln Waugh made it 2-0 about 30 seconds later as the Warriors built 5-1 and 9-1 period leads. The Warriors won their third straight game to improve to 10-4-0 to sit second in the league. The Attack (2-10-0) is in the last place.

Hudson finished the afternoon with three goals and an assist while Ethan Dickson had two goals, including the winner, and an assist.

Denver Arsenault, Carson Griffin, Lincoln Waugh, Tyson Wedge and Brian Zhang each had a goal and an assist while Riley Gallant rounded out the scoring.

Will Murphy and Travis Wedge each had three helpers while Jordan Shaw chipped in two.

Thatcher Hughes and Wil White each had a goal and an assist for the Attack.

George Gallant stopped 15 shots for the win. Noah Carver allowed seven goals on 31 shots while Ethan Clark gave up four goals on 19 shots.

Central went 1-for-5 on the power play and killed all four of Prince County’s chances with the man advantage.

EXPRESS 11, MATRIX 0

Ross Campbell and Mason Power each had two goals and four assists Saturday as the Eastern Express cruised to a 11-0 win over the Mid-Isle Matrix.

Dawson Sharkey had two goals and three assists for a five-point night at the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud.

The Express led 2-0 after the first period before scoring six times in the middle stanza.

Evan Nicholson also scored a pair while Cayle Coffin, Austin Walker and Aiden Wilson each had one. Kayden McGuigan had two helpers while singles were credited to Ryan Dwyer, Alexander Keus, Matthew MacLean, Justin Smith, Nicholson, Coffin and Walker.

Hudson Bradley had an 11save shutout while Landon MacKinnon was peppered with 54 shots in Mid-Isle’s crease.
