Fundraisers
Chili or chowder takeout is Feb. 13 at Hillcrest United Church in Montague. Hillcrest UCW is hosting a meat chili or vegetarian/glutenfree corn chowder supper takeout. Card games
Rustico Bay Seniors Auction card games are Mondays, 7 p.m. COVID-19 directives are in effect. Masks are mandatory. There will be prizes and a 50/50 draw.
Card games will be held every Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunstaffnage School Centre.
Meetings
The Kindred Spirits Quilt Guild meeting will be held on Feb. 17 at the Irish Cultural Center, 582 North River Rd., Charlottetown, 7-9 p.m. COVID-19 rules apply. Masks are required, social distancing and contact info will be enforced. Please bring a pen. There will be no food or refreshments at this time, but people can bring their own tea/ coffee etc. if they wish. New members and visitors are welcome. Workshop/Presentation/ Course
Professional player and steel drum maker Pepeto Pinto will offer a series of six workshops in learning to play this musical instrument from the Caribbean. The training, which will take place through the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard’s development program, is six workshops, every second Thursday starting Feb. 18 (6 p.m.) at the Carrefour de l’Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown. Equipment (steel drums) will be provided to participants, as required. The workshops are for those 12 and older. Nominations are open for the 34th annual Island Literary Awards (adult submissions) and the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty Creative Writing Awards for Young People. This year, two new award categories have been added: Prince Edward Island Association for Newcomers to Canada Award and the Scott Parsons Literary Award. Cash prizes are awarded to individuals who place first, second, and third in both the adult and young people’s award categories at the award galas, which will take place on May 29. Anyone wishing to submit should review detailed submission guidelines, eligibility criteria and information at www. peiwritersguild.com. The deadline for all submissions is Feb. 26 at 9 p.m.
