Valentines Eve concert Feb. 13 in Charlottetown

-

Love songs define Valentines, and there will be a variety of love songs to enjoy at the Valentines Eve concert on Saturday, Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m., at the Haviland Club in Charlottetown.

Part of the net proceeds from the concert will support a local international development organization ISCA (isca-aidc.ca) which is beginning a new agriculture initiative in Legane, Haiti. Proceeds will also be shared with Lennon House P.E.I (lennonhouse.ca).

Performance artists include Music P.E.I. Award-winner Drea MacDonald. A songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer, MacDonald is a solo artist and has released four albums since 2009. She has also been awarded two Music P.E.I. Awards.

Additional performances include The Montgomerys, who will feature songs adapted from the poetry of Lucy Maud Montgomery, and Al Tuck, a veteran of the Canadian music scene. His touring activities have extended beyond Canada to the U.K., where he performed with The Guthries.

Thomas Kirkham, a member of the Poets and Saints Band, will also bring his special style of music to the concert venue.

The concert will open with a performance by George Marshall, who modestly identifies as a student of the classical guitar. He will be performing selections from Bach, Terrega and some original works.

Admission is by donation with reservations available by emailing mackaypei@gmail. com. If confirmations are not received within 12 hours, seating may be at capacity, due to COVID restrictions (four- and 10-person tables available).

Haiti project online donations are being accepted at isca-aidc.ca or by contacting 902-940-5864
