CLOW, Ryan

-

The Family of Ryan Clow is devastated to share the news of his tragic passing on Friday February 5, 2021. A loving father and husband, caring son, mentoring older Brother, and cherished friend. Ryan left this world far too soon, spending the day skiing and likely reflecting on a lifetime of happy memories of ski trips with family and friends. Ryan was born on August 3, 1977 to Mike and Donalda (Irving) Clow in Charlottetown, PEI. Ryan grew up in York Point and Tea Hill PEI. He attended the Stratford family of schools, UPEI (BBA), West Liberty College, West Virginia USA (tennis scholarship) and St. Mary’s University (MBA). He spent numerous years working in Toronto, ON before moving to Halifax. He was most recently employed by Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine as the Director of MedIT. Ryan loved being a father. He was incredibly dedicated to and proud of his family, and his eyes lit up when he spoke about his boys, Sam and Parker. We see Ryan’s boyish smile in his children and we know we will always have a piece of him with us in them. Ryan’s boys will deeply miss their Dad’s love and guidance, but they will always have the support of the community that loved Ryan. Ryan will be missed unconditionally by his loving wife Julie, who brought him so much joy and smiles from ear to ear. He was unmatched as a husband and best friend, and the way he looked at her with his knowing smile never wavered from the moment they met. She will carry in her heart forever his steady and gentle devotion and the acts of love and surprises that shaped their 13 wonderful years together. Ryan was a family man. Straight as an arrow, loyal and guided by the principles of helping others and ensuring everyone was together. He spoke proudly of his brother Damian, and although they lived most of their adult lives on opposite sides of the country, they never missed a beat when they were together. Some of Ryan’s happiest moments occurred when he and Dae were reunited for a visit. The boy with a heart of a man and the truest of gentlemen. Ryan’s friends knew him as a beacon of kindness, thoughtfulness, and patience. He always strived to be the best he could be and bring those around him to the top of the mountain. His sportsmanship was like no other - on the tennis courts, ski hill, soccer pitch or road bike. So many of us wish we had even an ounce of his grace and charm. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. We love you Ryan with all of our hearts. May you rest in peace and be given the highest accolades for your commitment to life and making other people’s lives around you better. Ryan is survived by his wife Julie and sons Sam and Parker; parents Mike and Donalda (Irving) Clow; brother Damian and sister-in-law Emma Parston; grandfather, Basil Irving; mother-in-law, Carole Anne Patterson; brother-in-law Kevin Patterson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Kay Irving, Mona and Forrest Clow; father-in-law William (Bill) Patterson; and his loving dog, Libby. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021, 1pm-4pm and 6pm-9pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax, N.S. The funeral will be live streamed on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11am (link will be shared on J.A.
