Jessica Sheppard, a teacher at Colonel Gray High School, said most high schools in P.E.I. don’t have an effective system for separating trash.

“Which is devastatin­g,” she said. “There’s no system in place for them to do it.”

Colonel Gray started implementi­ng some changes this year, but Sheppard expects it’s only about 50 per cent effective and more support is needed, she said.
