Public invited to historical society's AGM

Members of the public are invited to the annual general meeting of the Summerside and Area Historical Society, to be held at Eptek Art & Culture Centre on Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

Matthew McRae, the new executive director of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation, will speak.

The annual presentati­on of the Gerard Gallant awards also will be held, and there will be discussion around Our Heritage, Our Vision, dealing with how to preserve history, as well as a discussion on the topic of the need for a Summerside museum.

Anyone who has historic artifacts they would be willing to share at the event is invited

to bring them to the AGM or bring pictures of the artifact so they could be documented.

Masks will be mandatory. This is a free event, but because attendance is limited due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, attendees are asked to register ahead by calling Eptek Art & Culture Centre at

902-888-8373.

Eptek Centre is at 130 Heather Moyse Dr., adjacent to the Harbourfro­nt Theatre.

Attendees will also have an opportunit­y to view the exhibition, Quills, Ash & Bone: Contempora­ry perspectiv­es on traditiona­l Mi’kmaq art.
