A fair, farewell weekend

- CINDY DAY weathermail@weatherbyday.ca @CindyDayWeather Cindy Day is SaltWire Network’s Chief Meteorologist.

It’s hard to believe that May is just around the corner. The last weekend of April is going to be quite pleasant.

With a good amount of sunshine for everyone, it’s bound to be a busy couple of days in the yard and garden. The brisk west wind that will take us into the weekend will back to the south on Sunday, ahead of another wet and windy spring rainstorm.

Right now, the developing area of instability is over Colorado. As it pushes eastward, it will come up against a blocking pattern over the Labrador Sea. The result will be a tightened pressure gradient and lots of wind.

The southeasterlies could gust to 70 km/h, with Suetes and Wreckhouse wind warnings likely to start the week. Because the system will spend a few days over our region, rainfall totals could end up in the 40 to 60 mm range by midweek.

Through it all, daytime temperatures will be near or slightly above seasonable values.
