New executive director of Charlottetown Film Society

-

The Charlottetown Film Society's (CFS) new executive director wants people to know there is an independent cinema in Charlottetown.

Mary-Helen McLeese took over the executive director role on April Wednesday, an April 22 release from CFS said.

“Having a small independent movie theatre in downtown Charlottetown offers the community the ability to safely watch together in an intimate space and enjoy many films that would not screen in the national chains," said McLeese, who has been the technical director at the Charlottetown Film Festival (ChFF) for several years and is an independent filmmaker.

“As the technical director with ChFF and a volunteer at City Cinema, I see first-hand how much Islanders appreciate film and our little cinema," said McLeese.

"I want to help promote film on the Island and get more bums on seats at the cinema."

Islanders can book tickets at the City Cinema at www.citycinema.ca/.
