• The Tyne Valley and Area Community Sports Centre’s original ice surface had oyster shells embedded in it.

• In keeping with that tradition, oyster shells have been encased in some beams in the new Tyne Valley Events Centre under construction.

• Officials note this represents “our humble beginnings” and pays tribute to the partnership between the Oyster Festival and Community Sports Centre.
