Some facts about the new Tyne Valley Events Centre:

• It will feature an NHLsized ice surface — 200 feet long and 85 feet wide.

• The entrance is on the north side of the building, closest to the main parking lot.

• An elevator will be located inside the main entrance to take patrons to the second level for the gymnasium, heated viewing areas and meeting and hospitalit­y rooms.

• The arena will feature seating for approximat­ely 350 people on the north side of the building.

• There will be six dressing rooms: five on the north side of the arena under the seating area and one on the south side of the building.

• The players’ benches are located directly across from the seating area on the south side.

• The facility will host events for the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

• The facility will include a walking track.

• Tyne Valley minor hockey and figure skating associatio­ns will have office and storage space on the south side behind the players’ benches.

• The Zamboni and ice-plant rooms are at the west end of the building.

• The canteen, public washrooms and manager’s office will be in the east end.

• “With the gym, the walking track is going to be a big thing, and, of course, your coffee pot is always important on Saturday and Sunday mornings,” said Tyne Valley Events Centre project manager Cedric Gallant. “Every community needs to have a rink. It is the pillar of the community.”
