EARTH DAY CYNICISM

-

Earth Day has come and gone, and while it pleasing to see young people taking a stand for the health of the planet, I hope their enthusiasm leads them to a wider reading of the science of environmentalism and climate than is common in the community. I am a little cynical to see politicians making grand statements on saving the planet from the alleged horrors of climate change when they fail to do all the things that are actually doable. All the trillions squandered on wind turbines could have gone a long way to ending homelessness, poverty and plastics pollution. And those turbines have made zero difference to carbon-dioxide emissions. Go figure.
