Boo Yaya, Woodmere Jazz victorious in sires stakes action

Boo Yaya kicked clear in the stretch drive to become the fastest seasonal two-yearold performer July 7 at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Marc Campbell supplied the winning steer as Boo Yaya dominated the stretch drive in her $16,020 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division for rookie pacing fillies. The Robert MacLeod-trained daughter of Stonebridge Terror stopped the clock in 1:58.4 by a fourlength margin for Nova Scotia owners Hugh and Ali MacEachern.

West River Glo (Clare MacDonald) finished second with pacesetter Cougar On A Terr (Don Gillis Jr.) third.

The other $16,020 A split was claimed by Woodmere Jazz (Gilles Barrieau) in 1:59.2 over Kinda Like Royalty (Walter Cheverie) and JJ Scarlett (Gillis). Kevin MacLean trains the winning filly for owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.

The $3,000 B Divisions were won by JJ Linda (Cheverie) in 2:01.4 and The real princess (Corey MacPherson) in 2:01.

Legendary Ron (Jason Hughes) won the Gentleman’s Jim Pace in memory of Cam Cameron in a time of 1:58.1 for owner Doug Matheson of Cornwall.
