Online concert series to feature duo Sirène et Matelot, July 11
MONT-CARMEL, P.E.I. – Sirène et Matelot will headline the next performance in a series of virtual concerts in the Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series.
Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel announced in a recent release that the musical duo is slated to perform in a free, hour-long show on July 11 at 7 p.m. It will be livestreamed from the coopérative’s Facebook page.
Sirène et Matelot, which is made up of Lennie Gallant and Patricia Richard, draws on their Acadian P.E.I. roots and shared passion for music in their songwriting and performance.
“They have each been successful in their respective artistic careers but have recently discovered that together they have a sound that is unique and fresh and yet carries the kind of weight and wisdom that only comes with time and experience,” said the release.
The release noted Sirène et Matelot’s songwriting reflects
Gallant and Richard’s roots and influence and the current state of the world.
The duo has had music on the charts since they began playing together in 2019 and has been nominated for both East Coast Music Awards and Music P.E.I. Awards.
The duo was also awarded the Assomption Vie RadioCanada tour during the FrancoFête en Acadie 2019.
In addition, Gallant and Richard were ambassadors of the Acadie 300 celebrations in P.E.I. in 2020.
Live shows will be streamed to the coopérative’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/ CDCPMC – on Sundays until Aug. 29.
Other featured performers will be Moyenne Rig, Christian “Kit” Goguen and Mathias Goguen, Shane Pendergast, Flo Durelle, Keelin Wedge, Tara MacLean, Josée Boudreau and Craig Fair.
