Celebrating health and wellness
Island Tides Yoga & Fitness Festival set for July 16-18 in Charlottetown
A new festival focusing on health and wellness is heading to Prince Edward Island’s capital city later this month.
Discover Charlottetown has announced the Island Tides Yoga & Fitness Festival will include workshops and activities led by wellness professionals, yoga studios and other community partners.
“We’re always looking for ways to enliven the shoulder season in Charlottetown, and while this year’s festival will take place July 16-18, it will eventually live on in future years during the Summer Solstice weekend near the end of June,” said Heidi Zinn, Discover Charlottetown’s executive director.
The two-day festival will feature a combination of wellness workshops, yoga classes in unique environments, a 5k Rainbow Run, a mobile silent disco, sunrise meditation classes, breakfast and free entertainment, among other activities.
The release noted the festival activities will take place around the city, from harbourfront parks and rooftop patios to green spaces and yoga studios.
“As things begin to slowly reopen and it becomes a lot safer to gather together here in Charlottetown, we’re so excited to kick off this inaugural festival and can’t think of a better way to welcome visitors and offer them a chance to kick back here in Charlottetown,” said Zinn.
Activities in the festival are set up for a wide variety of skill levels.
The festival is open for anyone, from seasoned yogis to those just curious about the world of health and wellness, noted the release.
