SCHEDULE CHANGE

As a result of post tropical storm Elsa, Red Shores and the Prince County Horsemen’s Club announced a scheduling change Friday, July 9.

The July 9 program has been moved to Sunday, July 11, with post time at 6:30 p.m.

The program on Saturday, July 10, featuring the 53rd running of the Governor’s

Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge, will go as scheduled with post time at 6:30 p.m.

• Four horses have won the Governor’s Plate twice.

• They are John The Third (1973, 1975), Winners Accolade (1984, 1986), Outlawposi­tivcharg (2008, 2009) and D G’s Camme (2014, 2015).

• The 53rd running of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge, is scheduled for Saturday, July 10.

HISTORY

• Gilles Barrieau leads all drivers with five Governor’s Plate victories.

• Barrieau, who will drive Day Delight from Post 5 in the 53rd running of Prince County’s most prestigiou­s standardbr­ed race on Saturday, July 10, won his first Governor’s Plate with Comedy Hour in 1998.

• Barrieau then won four straight Governor’s Plates with Mcapulco (2012), Wild Dragon (2013) and D G’s Camme (2014, 2015).

• Summerside native Dr. Ian Moore has captured the Governor’s Plate four times – 1988, 1996, 2001, 2002.

• Todd Trites (1999, 2005, 2010) and Marc Campbell (2016, 2017, 2019) have three Governor’s Plate victories on their driving resumés.

• The Governor’s Plate is presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge.
