Quick start sparks Chevies to victory

STRATFORD, P.E.I. — The Chevies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back en route to a 5-2 victory over Stratford in a Kings County Baseball League game on July 18.

Winning pitcher Ben MacDougall allowed two earned runs, eight hits, six walks and struck out six over 6 ⅔ innings of work.

Logan Gallant came on in relief to record the game’s final out and the save via a strikeout.

Jon Arsenault, who recorded three strikeouts, took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Brady Arsenault gave up one earned run in two innings of work, giving up one hit and fanning three.

Scott Harper (2-3, run scored, RBI), Logan Gallant (1-4, run scored, RBI) and Troy Coffin (1-4, double) sparked the Chevies offensivel­y.

Randy Taylor (2-4), RBI), Nick MacPhail (1-2, two walks, RBI) and Graysen Laporte (1-2, two walks) were tops at the dish for Stratford.
