CANN, Mary
Card of Thanks
On July 23, 2020 family, friends and neighbors were deeply saddened to hear of
the death of Mary Alice Cann. Born in Montague on June 28th, 1931, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Kneebone) MacKenzie, and the second youngest child in a family of eight. Mary grew up in Lower Montague and married Lloyd, her husband of 68 years. The two would reside in Northam where they worked to establish their beautiful family farm. Mary was a loving mother to Beverley, Marion and
Marvyn. Throughout the years she also became a cherished grandmother to
10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mary loved to knit and cook, creating delicious meals for family and friends. She had a generous heart, a gentle spirit and a tremendous work ethic. Mary was most at home spending time in her gardens, working on the farm and spending time with loved ones.
The family of the late Mary Cann would like to express our sincere thanks for the many acts of kindness and support during our time of bereavement. We would also like to express gratitude to those of you who sent cards and donations in her memory to the Lower Montague Cemetery and the East Prince Palliative Home Care program. Special thanks to the staff of East Prince Home care who helped to provide incredible care and support, allowing her to stay at home as long as possible. Thank you to the Wedgewood Manor and to the doctors and staff of Prince County Hospital, who provided exceptional care during Mary’s final days. To
John MacIssac and the staff of Davison Funeral Home, for their sincere help and professional service. Thank you to the Pallbearers, honorary Pallbearers and Flower Bearers. A special thanks to Rev. Elaine Palmer-Harding for officiating the funeral service and to Kevin Arthur for sharing his gift of music.
Also to Jennifer, Stephanie and Melissa Thompson for sharing special memories of their grandmother, and to her niece, Corinne Ellsworth for reading scripture during the service. Heartfelt thanks to many wonderful family, friends and neighbors who expressed sympathy through flowers, food brought to our home, phone calls and visits. We truly appreciate everyone’s prayers and support.
One year has passed since that sad day. When one we loved was called away. God took her home. It was his will,
But in our hearts, she liveth still Lovingly remembered by Lloyd, Beverley, Marion, Marvyn and families
