-

Peacefully, surrounded by family, Elinor Joyce WarrenSeguin passed away on November 3, 2022. Joyce was born on January 13, 1932, in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island to Eva (Dickieson) Warren and Leigh Warren. Joyce was the youngest and last surviving of five siblings: Doris (Warren) Roy, Vera (Warren) Brydon, Colin Warren and Shelton Warren. Joyce was a precocious little thing, delivering a recitation in the New Glasgow Christian Church when she was only 5 years old. She studied music and as a child, played piano or organ in church and school concerts. At 16, she walked 6 miles to New Glasgow each Saturday to offer piano lessons. At 17 Joyce was a founding member of the New Glasgow Music Society and won second place at the P.E.I. South Shore Music Festival. For many years, she was in demand to play at weddings, concerts and special church services around the Island. Joyce graduated from Union Commercial College in 1950, worked for a year in Hunter River, and moved to Ottawa in 1952 to take a position with the Dominion Bureau of Statistics. She left in 1956 to marry and raise her family. In 2022, at the age of 90, Joyce published “Looking Back” the story of her happy childhood in Prince Edward Island, of which she was most proud. Throughout her life, music was her joy, and only weeks ago, Joyce played for new friends at Oak Park Lodge. She was a passionate fan of figure skating. Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Claude Seguin; her daughter, Debra Seguin and her son, Dale Seguin. She is survived by her son, Gary Seguin; grandchildren, Derek, Jonathan, Michael, Meghan and Kyle and several nieces and nephews. At Joyce’s request, there will be no service. Her ashes will return home to Prince Edward Island and be laid to rest with her parents. Donations can be made in her name to the Ottawa Hospital, where staff cared for her with compassion.
