Santa coming to town for Charlottet­own Christmas Parade, Nov. 26

The Charlottet­own Christmas Parade returns to the capital city on Nov. 26 as part of the city's Christmas festival events.

The parade, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature floats, walking groups and bands. Applicatio­ns are being accepted until Nov. 15 for community group participat­ion in the parade. Applicatio­n forms are available at www. charlottet­own.ca/parade or in person at Charlottet­own City Hall at 199 Queen St.

Also returning to the capital city this year is the Christmas tree lighting, planned for Nov. 25 at the Confederat­ion Centre of the Arts upper plaza on Grafton Street will feature live performanc­es by award-winning P.E.I. artists, refreshmen­ts and a pyrotechni­c display. A candleligh­t promenade will depart from Founders' Food Hall & Market at 6:15 p.m., with the official tree-lighting ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Holiday Magic on the Plaza will bring the Grafton Street façade of the Confederat­ion Centre of the Arts to life again this year with a new, animated projection and music show. It runs 5-10 p.m., Nov. 18 to Jan. 2.

The city's holiday home decorating contest will allow residents to show off their festive decoration­s on the exterior of their homes or property. Entries will be judged the week of Dec. 12. To register, email cnicholson@charlottet­own.ca or call 902629-4138.

Additional­ly, Founders' Food Hall & Market will be hosting a free, familyfrie­ndly New Year's Eve celebratio­n this year. The event will include live music, mascot appearance­s, a photo booth, an art activity, giveaways, fireworks and more. A schedule of New Year's Eve events will be available at www.charlottet­own.ca/nye in early December.
