ABRAM-VILLAGE, P.E.I. – The Village musical Acadian in Abram-village is looking to start a new Christmas tradition this year with the first-ever Village Christmas Market.

The event runs Nov. 25-27 and is a celebration of arts, handcrafts, music and the magic of Christmas in the style of a small European market.

"Artists and artisans from the Evangeline region and countless other Island communities will proudly present their wonderful creations of all kinds,” said organizing committee member Théodore Thériault, adding that attendees can expect to find all sorts of unique and handmade products created by artists and artisans from Evangeline and other P.E.I. communities.

“We anticipate that there will be everything from beautiful woolen mittens and toques to intricate pottery and woodwork,” said Thériault.

Those looking for a sweet Christmas treat will also be in luck, he said.

The market is organized by the Village musical Acadian, the Abram-village Handcraft Co-op and La Palette Artists' Co-op. Organizers are looking to make this an annual event.

“We want to attract the largest selection of arts and handcrafted goods possible. Then we want to ensure that the public has plenty of time to come and do its Christmas shopping without rushing,” said Thériault.

To make it easier for would-be shoppers, organizers are planning for merchants to be available at a variety of times. The market will be open Nov. 25, 1-9 p.m., Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Nov. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those interested in selling products can reserve their space by contacting info@villagemusical.com or 902-8543300.
