• A book signing for P.E.I. author Theresa Redmond is Nov 26, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Chapters Indigo, 455 University Ave., Charlottet­own. Her novel, Bound, set in the late 1700s, tells the story of a privileged young English woman who travels to the colony of St. John’s Island as the mistress of the governor and witnessing injustice on the Island, becomes the reluctant leader of the local emancipati­on movement. It is the first adult historical fiction novel set in P.E.I.

• An online launch for Fiona Steele’s new book, Coming Home, is Nov. 26, 6-7 p.m. Visit acornpress.ca for details. Steele writes about the journey of coming home to P.E.I. after moving away and to the Island identity she is rooted in. It is organized in three distinct parts: sandstone, sea and sky.

• A lecture by Mary Jeanette Gallant is Nov. 30, 7 p.m., in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Rd., Charlottet­own. Gallant, chair of the Glenaladal­e Heritage Trust, will speak about the trust and the 250-year anniversar­y celebratio­n that took place this past June and July. • The launch for Second Glimpses, a new book by P.E.I. journalist, author, photograph­er and awardwinni­ng poet Kathy Birt, is at the Haviland Club in Charlottet­own Dec. 3, 1-4 p.m. The author’s first memoir, Just a Glimpse, as well as others by her hand will be available for sale.

• The Native Council of P.E.I. is hosting an art show Dec. 2, 4-9 p.m., showcasing Indigenous Island artists of many mediums and skill levels. The event is hosted at the Native Council Programmin­g Office at 614 North River Rd.

• Confederat­ion Centre Art Gallery is featuring the following: Entrance Gallery: Ronald Bloore, Paul Griffin and Eleanor King; Revisiting; Dreaming Machines; Surabhi Ghosh: What’s mine is yours; While Black: a forum for speculatio­n on what the gallery can’t hold. • The Cornwall Library Art Gallery is showing a group exhibit, featuring a local artist with one piece each in the show, until Dec. 2. • Eptek Art & Culture Centre is showing Still Quilting Forward, featuring work from members of the P.E.I. Modern Quilt Guild. Enjoy bright colours, contempora­ry designs and coziness. Wartime Memories from Prince County will be on display, highlighti­ng Second World War artifacts, in partnershi­p with the P.E.I. Regiment Museum. Admission is by donation. • The Hilda Woolnough Gallery at The Guild (111 Queen St., Charlottet­own) is showing Double Takes, featuring the work of Doug Dumais, a camera artist based in Charlottet­own. He documents spaces undergoing drastic changes such as constructi­on sites, eroding shorelines and public institutio­ns and manipulate­s his images by layering them with historical paintings, illuminati­ng them with illegible poetry or obscuring them with frosted glass. • The Sixty Days of Fame series has returned to the Lefurgey Cultural Centre in Summerside with Canadian Cities and Viking Pottery, a joint exhibit with Karin H. Melzer and Andrew A. Melzer featuring their two discipline­s of pottery and painting. It can be viewed Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Nov. 25. Admission is free. The Lefurgey Cultural Centre is at 205 Prince St.
