The death occurred with family by his side in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, of David Stevenson, of New Glasgow, age 87, beloved husband of the late Avonna Stevenson (nee Macausland) for 63 years. He was born in New Glasgow on March 6, 1935, to Lorne and Louise Stevenson (Stevenson). David was the loving father of Darren (Patty), Lorna (Robert) Stevenson Gallant, and Chris (Mary Beth); and cherished Grampie to Andrew Stevenson, Stephanie Stevenson (Max Harris), Lucas Gallant (Ashley), Jennifer Gallant, Jordan Stevenson (Robyn), and John Patrick Stevenson (Heidi); and special greatgrandfather of Kayleigh and James Harris and Wesley and Willow Stevenson. He is also survived by his siblings, Pat Murphy (Earle), Merilyn Ross (Ron), Betty Gunn (Leonard), and Barry Stevenson (Joyce). Besides his wife, Avonna, and parents, Lorne and Louise, David was predeceased by his parents-inlaw, Heber and Lorna Macausland and brother, Errol (Lorraine, deceased). David was a dedicated member of the New Glasgow Fire Department for over 20 years, and active in his community as a member of the New Glasgow Cemetery Committee. David will be greatly missed, always loved, and never forgotten, especially by his canine companion, Lulu. Resting in Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date in the New Glasgow Cemetery.
