Community

• The World Day of Prayer service will be held on March 1 at 3 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 5 Lowther Dr. Cornwall. This beautiful service has been created by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Palestine. All are welcome.

• The Summerside and Area World Day of Prayer service 2024 takes place at Summerside Presbyteri­an Church, 130 Victoria Rd., Summerside, March 1, 11 a.m. This year's theme is "I Urge you, bear with one another in love" and is based in Palestine. The service will be led by the Circle of Joy group of Summerside Presbyteri­an Church. Lunch will follow. • St. Mark's Presbyteri­an Church in Charlottet­own is hosting a World Day of Prayer Service on March 1 at 2 p.m. Participat­ing churches are St. Mark's, Park Royal United and St. Pius X.

• The Island Peace Committee (IPC) and the Muslim Society of Prince Edward Island will hold a Peace Walk and Rally on March 2 at 2 p.m. Meet at Boulder Park on Grafton Street, Charlottet­own, and walk through the streets of downtown Charlottet­own. There will then be a rally at Boulder Park with speeches, poetry and music in solidarity with the suffering peoples of Palestine. It is ppen to all. For more informatio­n, contact IPC, 902 368-7337.

• People are invited to get to know their neighbours, Monday and Friday, 10-11 a.m., at the Milton Community Hall. Coffee, tea and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats.

• P.E.I. Sociable Singles, a nonprofit, non-denominati­onal, social group, provides separated, divorced, widowed and unmarried people 50 and over with an opportunit­y to get out of the house and participat­e in healthy group and social activities. • Seniors are invited to meet at the library for an informatio­n session on physical activity with Keith Tanton, March 8, 11 a.m. to noon, in the Amalgamate­d Dairies Limited Room, Summerside Rotary Library. Enjoy free coffee or tea and a time to connect with others.

• Sessions on Christian meditation, the prayer of the heart which opens people to the presence of God in the silence and stillness of the present moment, will be held on Zoom on Tuesdays until April 30, 7-8 p.m. There is no fee.
