-

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Stuart Drummond, born on May 3, 1937, in the community of South Freetown, PEI. His death occurred peacefully in his sleep on February 9, 2024, in New Port Richey, Florida. Stuart was the loving husband of Ada (Sherren) for an amazing 68 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbert Drummond and Jessie (Montgomery). He was the brother of Thane (Ann), Gail Meadows (Fred – deceased), Ian - deceased (Joanne), and Robin (Kathie). Stuart was the father of five. Rocky (Sheron), Ottawa, Montgomery, PEI, Steven (Brenda) Saint John, Dana (Martha), and Heather Fleming (Tim) PEI. His grandchildren, Robyn Macmillan, Corrie Slinn, Kristyn Drummond (Dave), Mitchell Drummond (Danielle), Adrian Drummond, Keegan Drummond (Ashley), Ethan Drummond (Kate), Chad Fleming (Lauren), Taylor Fleming (Stephanie), Brittany Doyle (Jamie), and Dalton Fleming (Jessica). He was also the proud great-grandfather of 11. Stuart also had many nieces and nephews, and had six exchange students that they hosted for over 20 years, some of who still come to visit them from all over the world. Stuart spent most of his career with The United Way. He worked this job in PEI, Ottawa and Victoria BC. Then in 1979 he decided that he wanted his five children raised in PEI, so we moved back to the Island. He again worked for the United Way, and after retirement, he worked with the PC party. After that, he started his fun job of running a bed and breakfast for many years. Upon retirement, he and Ada started making Florida their winter home. When in Florida every winter, he started carving big blue herons which are coveted by many. He was well known and liked by all in the park. As he sat outside carving, no one would ever pass without a hello, or a short visit. He was a mover on the dance floor and could keep up with all. Stuart was a very generous man doing so much that no one ever knew about. He will be missed by his family and so many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home on March 7 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
