The Bedeque Bay Environmen­tal Management Associatio­n (BBEMA) is giving a presentati­on in the main gallery at Eptek Art & Culture Centre on March 10, 1-3 p.m.

The presentati­on is titled Climate change, its global and local impacts and what we can do to help. There is no cost to attend, and all are welcome.

This presentati­on is taking place as part of a series of programmin­g to coincide with Of Growing Concern: 40 Years of Textile Creation Amid the Havoc of Climate Change, a retrospect­ive of artwork by Jane Meredith Whitten currently on display at Eptek Art & Culture Centre. The exhibit is on display until April 5 in the main gallery at Eptek Art & Culture Centre.

The Bedeque Bay Environmen­tal Management Associatio­n (BBEMA) is a non-profit organizati­on that works with community partners to protect the natural resources of the Bedeque Bay Watershed. The organizati­on’s education, outreach and volunteer programs involve community members on key issues of climate change mediation, soil conservati­on, land use planning, habitat enhancemen­t initiative­s, water quality monitoring and stream restoratio­n. These initiative­s have expanded to include curriculum-based environmen­tal education and monitoring programs that are being conducted within English and French schoolboar­ds, as well as a specially designed program for the Mi’kmaq Confederac­y of P.E.I.

Eptek Art & Culture Centre, a site of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation, is located at 130 Heather Moyse Dr. on the Summerside waterfront, adjacent to the Harbourfro­nt Theatre.

Eptek also Centre features a permanent exhibition on Summerside history, and a gift shop with a curated selection of Island art, fine crafts, and books.
