Surrounded by his loving family, the death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 of Roger Joseph Bernard of the Miscouche Villa and formerly from Saint-philippe at the age of 71 years. Born on November 7, 1952, Roger was the cherished son of the late Edmond and Évangéline (née Aucoin) Bernard of Saint-philippe. Roger will forever be remembered by his brothers and sisters, Irène (late - Tilmon) Arsenault, Melvin (Angèle) Bernard, Florence (Ewen) Mackinnon, Raymond (Rita) Bernard, Julien (Corinne) Bernard, Thérèse (late - Lionel) Arsenault, Patricia (late – Earl) Perry, Alcide (Alvina) Bernard, Marcel (Jeannita) Bernard, Claudette (John) Arsenault; his sister-in-law, Clara Bernard; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predecease­d by his parents, Edmond and Évangéline; by his brothers and sisters, Alice (Alfred) Richard, Paul Bernard; Urbain Bernard and Lillian Bernard in infancy. Roger spent his whole life working on the family dairy farm and enjoyed taking care of the animals and working in the fields. He was a true supporter of the Montreal Canadians. His favorite pastime was listening to music, especially his Gadelle C.D. and the Saturday Night Country Hoedown. Resting at the Évangéline Funeral Home, 900 Route 124, Urbainvill­e, for visiting hours on Friday, March 15th from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint-philippe et Saintjacqu­es Church in Egmont Bay. Interment in the parish cemetery will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Roger made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Prince County Hospital Foundation will be greatly appreciate­d.
