-

The Celebration and Thanksgiving service for the late Donald (Donnie) Blair Flynn was held on March 23, 2024 at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home Chapel. Donnie passed away suddenly at Saint John Regional Hospital on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2024. Fr. Tim Broderick presided over the service and in the Gospel and Homily, reflected on the Serenity Prayer and the value of hardship and generosity as a pathway to peace. Music compositions included Here I am Lord, Ave Maria, and How Great Thou Art. Florence Wood, David Flynn and Barb Wood presented the readings. Interment will follow at a later date. A reception at the funeral home followed the service. Donnie’s family is grateful to the many people who were able to visit during his largely attended wake and funeral and for those who showed kindness in many ways during our difficult time. Donnie is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Bobbi Jo (Lowell Ferguson) and Billie Jean (Coady Campbell); as well as grandsons, Sloan and Flynn Campbell. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne (Florence) and predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Catherine Flynn, brothers Merrill (Ernestine), Allan (Cathy), and sister, Shirley Dunn (John), nephew, Michael Dunn and niece, Deborah Flynn. Donnie loved and cared deeply for his family and never forgot how difficult life could be for so many. His quiet kindness and generosity will be remembered fondly by many. Often he quietly and humbly gave a helping hand to those he saw that he could make their situation a little bit better. He will be greatly missed by his many friends including his mall walking group and his Walmart coffee group.
