Traditiona­l music/ jam sessions

• Home-grown Harmony, a ceilidh with Jo-anne Ford and Michael Buell, is Thursdays, with the next one April 11, 7 p.m., upstairs in the Hambly room, Cavendish Wellness Centre, Montague. Concerts

• Dinner music with Max Keenlyside is on select nights at Harmony House in Hunter River, 6:30 p.m., with the next performanc­e on April 11. This is a non-ticketed event, simply pay-what-you-can for the artist’s performanc­e.

• Island Jazz Thursdays at Baba’s Lounge in Charlottet­own on April 11 features the Island Jazz Quartet playing the blues – in many different styles, keys and formats. IJQ drummer Mat Maceachern leads the show bringing a mix of original jazz tunes written for blues changes, along with famous blues tunes by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Oliver Nelson, Charlie Parker, Ornette Coleman, Pat Metheny and more. The Island Jazz Quartet is Mat Maceachern, drums, with Chris Martell, bass, Jordan Taylor, guitar, and Dan Rowswell, sax. There are two sets with the first starting at 8 p.m. Donations are at the door with a $5 minimum.

• Got Blues Matinee is two or three Saturdays a month, 2-4 p.m., at The Salvador Dali Cafe, 155 Kent St., Charlottet­own. Hosted by Got Blues (Chris Roumbanis and friends Reg Ballagh and Mike Robicheau, each week there is a special guest

• Makers session is at Eptek Art & Culture Centre in Summerside, April 14, 1-3 p.m. Gather a latest project (or one that has been waiting to be finished) for an afternoon of making. These sessions are a great chance to catch up with some friends, meet new ones and see what other makers are creating. This event is free, and everyone is welcome.

• Yukon poet and fiction writer Joanna Lilley will give a public reading as part of an Atlantic Canada tour in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, UPEI on April 16, 7 p.m. Admission is free.

• The Queens County Fiddlers practise approximat­ely every second Thursday at the BIS Hall on

North River Road in Charlottet­own. There’s a slow jam at 6:30 p.m. and a practice at 7:30 p.m. The group’s next practice is April 18. All are welcome – players and listeners.

• Carrying on the tradition of the Miscouche band, musicians and interested parties are meeting Wednesdays at Summerside Intermedia­te School (247 Central St., Summerside), 6:30 p.m. in the band room (look for signs). • As part of the Sixty Days of Fame series at the Lefurgey Cultural Centre in Summerside, artist Shelia Forsyth presents a solo exhibit that explores subjects and colours of beautiful places and spaces, from across P.E.I. and around the world, which have inspired her. Here and There: A Journey in Colour is part of the Sixty Days of Fame series, until May 31. The exhibit can be viewed, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., free of charge. • Eptek Art & Culture Centre has a Retrospect­ive of the Folk Art of Kerras Jeffery starting April 16. Jeffery (1966-2017) was one of the leading folk artists of his generation in eastern Canada. Born in P.E.I., he began his working career as a laborer, but gradually moved into folk art. He operated Back Road Folk Art in Alma, P.E.I., for 20 years. His creations were made from repurposed materials, and his playful sculptures continue to be collected across Canada and internatio­nally. The exhibit is on display until May 17 in the main gallery. A free public opening reception is April 21, 1-3 p.m. The lobby exhibit for April is Artist’s Choice, a collection of work by members of the Kensington Artist Co-operative, which is comprised of more than 20 artist members and has a seasonal gallery in Kensington, June to September.
