Age 91, Truro, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Shannex Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born at home in Clyde Station, PEI, during a total solar eclipse in August 1932, she was the youngest daughter of the late Harry Ray and Katherine Marjorie “Katie” (Matheson) Craswell. Alice was a devoted mother to her three beloved daughters, Bonnie Dawn Hurry (Joffre DuCharme), Janice Katherine Davison (Mickey), Tanya Kim Collins (David); stepson, Dr. Peter Burns. She cherished her grandchild­ren, Dr. Kate Collins Ferazman (Siavash), Amy Fraser (Andrew), Sam Collins, Kelson Burns, Sarah Burns, Owen Burns; and great-grandchild­ren, Logan, Hudson, Abby and Theo. She is also survived by her dear sister, Hazel MacLeod. Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her beloved husband, Reverend Carman George Burns; former husband and father of her three daughters, Henry Hurry; dear sister, Vivian Redding; infant niece, Joy MacLeod. Alice’s career was dedicated to serving others at NS School for Girls and NS Youth Training Centre, where she supervised an apartment program for intellectu­ally challenged youth who were dear to her heart. She and her husband, Carman lived in Clifton, New Brunswick, River John and Bermuda, where she supported his ministry in the United Church of Canada churches. A life-long member of First United Church, Truro, Alice was also a proud member of the UCW. She was a talented seamstress, and she created many prom and wedding dresses for her daughters. She also volunteere­d with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A Celebratio­n of Life for Alice will be held in Truro at a later date to be confirmed. If so desired, donations in her memory to First United Church, Truro, or Berwick United Church Camp (where she and her husband, Carman first met) are welcomed.
