Fundraiser­s

• Roast beef dinner with all the trimmings is May 5 at noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Palmer Road. Admission is $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.

• Trinity Clifton United Church take-out roast beef dinner is May 11 with pickup from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Sydney Street door of the church. The menu includes roast beef, potatoes, gravy, turnip, carrots, peas, Yorkshire pudding and lemon cake with cream cheese icing for dessert. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance by May 9. • Class of 1974 50th graduation anniversar­y celebratio­n for 1974 Charlottet­own Rural High School graduates is June 8, 6 p.m., at the Haviland Club, 2 Haviland St., Charlottet­own. Community

• The City of Charlottet­own Food Council is hosting Scraps & Seeds May 4, 1-3 p.m., where attendees can meet the members of the council, enjoy a free meal, receive compliment­ary seeds and learn more about the group’s work to improve the Charlottet­own food system. This drop-in style event is at the Founders’ Food Hall demonstrat­ion kitchen and is intended to assist participan­ts in taking small steps towards sustainabi­lity, whether by ensuring food they purchase is not going to waste or by growing some of their own vegetables.

• People are invited to get to know their neighbours, Monday and Friday, 10-11 a.m., at the Milton Community Hall. Coffee, tea and snacks are available by donation of coin or treats.

• P.E.I. Sociable Singles is a recreation­al group for widowed, separated, divorced and not married people aged 50-plus, offering an opportunit­y to get out and about for meals and outings, along with a weekly meet-and-greet, including games and fun. • The Magic and Value of Music Therapy will be presented by Rebecca Hulme, who will explore the intrinsic power of internal human musicality and how it may serve as a springboar­d to imagine a future where music therapy is an essential standard of health care. Participan­ts will be invited to step out of their comfort zone, access creative areas of their brain and foster a sense of community. The Montague branch of the Provincial Credit Union recently made a $30,000 donation to Transporta­tion East Inc., an accessible transporta­tion service for Islanders in Kings County. Transporta­tion East provides friendly and affordable transporta­tion for seniors, low-income Islanders and those with disabiliti­es. Although the service currently operates primarily in the Montague area, the plan is to expand services to all of Kings County in the coming months.
