Port aux Basques cham­ber hopes poker tour­na­ment will be­come an­nual event

PORT AUX BASQUES, NL – The Port aux Basques and Area Cham­ber of Com­merce hosted its first poker tour­na­ment Fri­day, March 16 at the Port aux Basques Fire Hall.

Twenty-two peo­ple came to play along and show their sup­port. Col­lege of the North At­lantic do­nated a door prize val­ued at $150, and Chris the Croc­o­dile also do­nated to help sup­port the event.

A 50/50 draw was held and the top three play­ers all won pay­outs. First place re­ceived a prize of $345; sec­ond place, $210; and third place, $140.

The cham­ber thanked its board of di­rec­tors and the fire depart­ment for vol­un­teer­ing their time. The cham­ber also plans to host an­other event in late May, and hopes to make the tour­na­ment an an­nual event.
