The launch of Florence Strang’s new book “The Mindful Turtle” was a great success at the Port aux Basques Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Many parents brought their children to Story Hour to hear the reading of the book and to be introduced to the real turtle, Malcolm. The library staff then did a craft where each child made their own turtle to take home.

“The Mindful Turtle” is a picture book for children with exercises to cope with anxiety or times when they are scared. One five- yearold child was there with his grandmother and when he went home, he showed his mom what to do if she was scared.

The Autism Involves Me Group (AIM) extend thanks to those who came to the sessions, and especially the session regarding the book “Calm the [email protected]@k Down” on how the public are aware and accept autism.

Stephen Robertson, author of “Go For Shakedown” was impressed with the number of cadets who attended to listen to the presentation on his adventures as a helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

AIM extend appreciation to sponsors for making these presentations possible.

All of these books will be for sale at The Butterfly Boutique Book Store in Port aux Basques.
