Remembering Port aux Basques

The Gulf News (Port aux Basques) - - Editorial - BY MARJAREE PATEY

Many years ago, I wanted to roam.

I picked Port aux Basques and called it my home.

Port aux Basques is a nice place. Yes, that is true.

The people, they are friendly and always there for you. You drove downtown. There’s a view to see. Watch the Marine Atlantic boats Coming in from the sea.

Every night we went up To Harry Tom’s

To play the harmonica And listen to the songs.

I worked in the fish plant. There were many friends. Their memories I’ll cherish Until my life ends.

When my life is over

And they lay me to rest

I want to stay in Port aux Basques The place I liked the best.

Now my poem is ended.

I have nothing more to say. I am a proud Newfoundlander From Tally Cove, Fortune Bay.
